Clinic in a can introduces new primary care clinic

BEL AIRE, Kan. – Clinic In A Can prides itself on offering a large selection of top notch relocatable clinics, and now it has added a new model to the mix.
“It’s roomier, it’s more polished and, in a lot of ways, it’s just plain cooler than our current standard model,” said Michael Wawrzewski, Clinic In A Can’s founder and CEO. “I think U.S. customers who are interested in Clinic In A Can will be really interested in this new option.”
The new option is a 20-foot primary care clinic with a larger interior and an eye-catching exterior, which includes a full-coverage awning and European-style cladding. They’re calling it Panda 1.

Panda 1 has been in the works for a while now. Wawrzewski and Teresa Owens, Clinic In A Can’s lead designer, first conceived the idea for the clinic while brainstorming ways to make a bigger space that looked less like a shipping container and more like a traditional clinic. The resulting project helped them reimagine how to transform shipping containers into medical spaces.
“While working within the constraining limits of the 20-foot shipping container, Panda 1 was designed to maximize the interior space to ensure a comfortable environment for doctors and patients alike,” Owens said. “The intent behind this model is to create a relocatable, stand-alone clinic that has its own building-like presence.”
They seem to have succeeded, for Panda 1 indeed stands apart from Clinic In A Can’s standard model.
The company’s standard clinic design has the front door inset about 2 ½ feet from the cargo doors, making the clinics easier to ship but further limiting the available space inside. Panda 1 did away with the inset doors, bringing the finished interior usable medical space up to 127 square feet. But the differences don’t stop there.

Wawrzewski normally avoids making alterations to the exterior of the clinics to avoid compromising their container safety certifications, but he made an exception for Panda 1.
“The container safety certification is important for shipping purposes,” Wawrzewski said. “Without it, you have to ship the clinics break-bulk, which is more expensive. But our clinics are still completely structurally sound without it, so we decided to get creative with Panda 1’s exterior.”
In addition to installing the roof awning and the wooden cladding, which are not standard features of the clinics, Wawrzewski decided to deviate from the normal white paint job to add black accents, which led to the name “Panda 1.”
Wawrzewski was pleased with the overall finished clinic product, and he was even more pleased that his company didn’t sacrifice any quality while getting there. Panda 1 features the same high quality flooring, cabinetry and standard equipment as all of Clinic In A Can’s other products.
The absence of container safety certification will make Panda 1 more expensive to ship than the standard 20-foot Primary Care Clinic, so Panda 1 will only be available in the United States for now.
